What makes people choose Pilates over the myriad of classes offered at the local gym? Pilates hones into exactly the deepest and most solid part of the body, and what is known therefore as the “core”. Each class starts by centering your mind and body to focus on the muscles that need to fire up. It is not always easy to pinpoint the layers of abdominal muscles but with repetition, reminder and encouragement, the students end up finding them and each class becomes a small journey connecting mind and body to every movement. The small groups limit distraction helping each individual strive for their best in each class.pilates classes⟶
Sometimes it is hard to get yourself to class with so many life distractions: the phone, kids, juggling work, picking up the groceries - the list goes on. Self-care is crucial to staying fit and keeping mind and body in balance. Pilates helps you focus on one deep movement at a time, flowing through exercises, holding others and breathing consciously through it all. The breath is very calming even when the exercises prove challenging. Coming back to the breath makes you concentrate on just that, one movement at a time. How often do we do that in everyday life? A strong body and a strong mind carry you through life with grace and ease.pilates & shiatsu⟶
Coming from a background in endurance sports, I understand how important a strong body is for rising to each sports challenge. Pilates concentrates on the deepest structure of muscles in the body, stretching and lengthening the more robust ones while aligning the body as best it can. You put the work in, show up and focus and the Pilates method will help get you in shape for any performance.pilates & sports ⟶

The Power of Simplicity
Pilates is pure and strips the exercises down to the essence, the core. One movement at a time, following your breath. No need for any equipment or tools to perform the exercises, just your own body weight, floor space and concentration. It is time out for you and your body will feel free and empowered afterwards.
The Power of Mind
Concentration. In order to achieve the best, your mind must be alert. Pilates connects the mind and the body like no other exercise system. Any thoughts you have before the class are put aside in order to focus on the exercise connecting the mind to the breath. It strengthens the body and hones the mind.
The Power of Harmony
It is easy to lift a leg or an arm. It’s more challenging to lift a leg or an arm using the stomach muscles or connecting to the middle back muscles. All the muscles in the body work together in harmony during every Pilates exercise, creating better balance and a stronger posture which will carry through to everyday life, creating more awareness and confidence.
The Power of Choice
So why does Pilates stand out compared to other exercises? Each body is different and requires unique attention. Pilates sessions are usually held for one to five people encouraging each person to feel they have achieved their best alignment through the teacher’s cues and hands-on corrections. It is an exercise regime that fully embraces people’s needs.
